Bruins Re-Ink Krejci

With a 13 game point streak helping propel them from the depths of the Eastern Conference, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the Boston Bruins. In the shadows of the winning streak, no issue has been more impactful than the disappearance of Bruins star center David Krejci. Krejci has become a well known name around Boston, mainly for his heroics in the 2011 Stanely Cup Playoff run where he led the league in playoff points and goals ( 12 g, 11 a, 23 pts).

However to those of us who know David Krejci, know that you have to take the great, with the not so great. He has a reputation for " falling asleep" on the ice for periods of time throughout the season. He is an immensely talented player who has shown his talent in the highest of levels. Just look at how he produced in the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs and the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he was considered one of the best players in the tournament. His lack of effort throughout the regular season leaves many people scratching their heads. As of late there has been speculation that contract issues and trade rumors may be what is causing Krejci's play to dramatically drop off since the Bruins Cup run last year.

This takes us to today. This morning the team announced that they have re-signed Krejci to a 3-year $5.25Mil contract. This should be great news for both the Bruins and Krejci. Krejci was set to become a free agent at the end of this year. He has not been shy about saying how much he loved Boston and wanted to stay here with this team.

So with this new contract hopefully Krejci can put all the trade talks and contract issues behind him and get get back to focusing on his game. If Krejci returns to form, look for the Bruins first line of Nathan Horton, David Krejci, and Milan Lucic to have a jump in their production. If the Bruins can get even more production from their first line, the eastern conference will have to Beware of the Bear.
